The MP44, also known as the MP43 and more commonly as the StG44 (Sturmgewehr 44) was an infantry rifle developed in 1943 and carried by German soldiers during the Second World War, and later by East Germany. One of the earliest and most influential infantry battle rifles ever developed (its design heavily influenced the AK-47), the StG44 platform combined the best attributes of submachine guns, carbines, and automatic rifles.
