9 Great Armscor and Rock Island Firearms (Besides Rock Island 1911 Pistols)

9 Great Armscor and Rock Island Firearms (Besides Rock Island 1911 Pistols)

Apr 7th 2023

Everyone knows that Rock Island firearms are quality. We’ve covered the topic at length in the past.

You can learn more about some of the top Rock Island 1911 pistols on the market in our previous blog or contact us for recommendations.

But the truth is that Rock Island Armory and Armscor produce a lot of other quality firearms at unbelievably low prices.

These are some of the best of the best Rock Island firearms.

Rock Island Traditional Single Shot Shotguns

Rock Island produces .410, 20, and 12 gauge traditional single shot shotguns with price tags that you literally won’t believe. They’re handsome guns, too.

They feature silver-tone steel receivers, contoured barrels, and 3” chambers, making them suitable for taking everything from squirrels and rabbits to pheasants, and of course, for breaking clays. Some might even try taking turkeys and waterfowl with them.

There’s really no catch - except one. These shotguns feature wood-tone polymer stocks which are a little odd-looking. But, the CVA hunter single shot has a polymer stock, too, and that was a popular series.

So, it’s hardly a drawback, especially at this price point.

Rock Island Carina Shotguns

Rock Island also makes several pump-action shotguns for those of you that like a little extra peace of mind, not to mention a spare shot or two when you’re in the field.

Rock Island Carina pump-action shotguns are made with lightweight aluminum receivers, sport polymer furniture, and have a capacity of 5+1, making them perfect for upland game, turkey, pheasant, quail, and waterfowl. With that extra mag capacity they’re especially practical for the more liberal goose seasons with more generous bag limits.

They also come with full, modified, and improved chokes, making them practical for a wide range of sporting scenarios.

(If you like the Carina pump, you should also check out the Rock LI-ON shotguns, one of which is pictured below.)

Rock Island Over Under Shotgun

For those of you that like to shoot clays or chase birds and rabbits with traditional poise, rest easy. Rock Island Armory also produces an over/under.

Their over/under looks for all the world like a Stoeger Condor and has a pretty attractive price point, too. The thing is, they don’t make them anymore, so if you see one used at a shop, you’d better strike while the iron is hot.

(They also make a competition over/under, with a silver-tone receiver, which is also a steal if you can find it.)

Rock Island TM22

The Rock Island TM22 is a sporting rifle platform built around .22LR that is packed with features. Like other Rock Island firearms, this one comes with a very attractive price tag.

Some things the TM22 offers: lightweight components of aircraft grade 7075 aluminum, an AR-style pistol grip, a commercial buffer tube, and a top rail and an M-LOK handguard with plenty of room for optics and shooting accessories.

It comes with stock right-handed controls but can be converted to become southpaw-friendly, and it also comes with 2 10-round magazines.

Armscor 1600 .22LR

The Armscor Model 1600 is like the M16 but built around the .22LR. Affordable and practical, it is a no-frills sporting rifle platform that’s great for plinking and other high-volume shooting applications.

Rock Island Tactical .22TCM

If you’re looking for a tactical style, bolt-action platform in a light kicking and flat shooting centerfire cartridge from Rock Island Armory, this is a rifle you can’t miss.

The Rock Island Tactical Rifle is built around .22TCM, which is a fast, flat-shooting cartridge that doesn’t produce a lot of recoil (its parent cartridge is 5.56 NATO).

It’s perfect for small game hunters, and features parkerized steel and polymer hardware, as well as some other nice features, such as a pre-installed rail over the receiver and a threaded muzzle. It also comes with a bipod.

Rock Island 14Y Youth Rifle

Rock Island Armory makes a great youth gun, not only in terms of quality but also in terms of price.

Everyone knows .22LR is the perfect cartridge for teaching the youngsters how to shoot. It’s light on recoil and light on the wallet. Rock Island is light on the wallet too, but heavy on quality.

Many reviewers have noted that the fit and finish of Rock Island firearms are at the same level as or better than other budget guns, and the Rock Island 14Y Youth Rifle is no exception to this observation.

It’s basic, but it has what you need. The steel is parkerized, it’s outfitted with a hooded bead ramp front sight and leaf style rear sight, and it even has a real wood stock.

Plus, at its size and price, it’s perfect as a beginner rifle.

Rock Island AL22

It may not be the most popular Rock Island pistol, but the AL22 is the Rock Island handgun for you wheelgun shooters. Chambered around the .22LR, this revolver offers exceptional reliability at a surprisingly low price point.

Some things you’ll like about it: it’s a double/single, has blued cylinders, 9 round capacity, extremely durable rubber grips, and a safety transfer bar. It also comes with a case.

Also, if you like this gun but want a little more firepower, check out the AL22M, which offers basically all of the same features but which is built around the .22 WMR.

Armscor Model 206 Revolver

                  Rock Island firearms

We couldn’t leave this Armscor revolver off this list, especially at the prices Armscor asks for them. Chambered in .38 Special, this revolver also offers a lot of features you’ll appreciate.

This snub-nosed revolver is also a double/single, and has a half-shrouded barrel and a 6 round capacity as well as a safety transfer bar. This handsome little gun also features a parkerized finish which eliminates glare and provides a decent level of corrosion resistance.
