Dated 1955, these whistles served with not only the Military, but also with Constabulary services. We have a small batch out of the Congo which are in good serviceable condition. The design is reminiscent of the J. Hudson manufactured British Bobby Whistle made famous over the past 150 years, with its distinctive pitchy ‘wail’ which was a tone that was oddly enough…. Created by Mr. Hudson after he heard his violin fall and make a wailing discordant sound. While his whistles were made in Birmingham England, we are not sure where these were manufactured, but the design is the same with a tin housing ,similar profile , cut outs and sound that ‘Scotland Yard’ fell in love with.
