Clever designs for fighting knives were applied and issued to various units prior to D-day as units waited for the invasion. One inspired design during this period was made using the French cruciform Lebel blade set within a knurled steel handle. Far sleeker than the British Sykes, U.S. V42 stilettos, and M3 knives, this 7 inch blade was very low profile and quick to penetrate any clothing or tissue which made it ideal for sentry removal. Also, where a grinding wheel was available, each of the 4 edges of the cruciform blade could be sharpened to assist with slashing in hand to hand combat. A fantastic self-defense weapon! New mfg, knife with scabbard.
