Roughly 125 years old, these jackets that run the length of the Mauser 1888
Rifle barrel, are as rare as ‘Hens Teeth' ! A great rifle, but the jackets normally sustained major dents and dings under combat conditions. Commercially when you find them, they are usually badly dented and heavily pitted. We uncovered these in Turkey where they were used by the Kaiser’s WWI ally. For all those who have badly dented jackets, this is your one golden opportunity to upgrade. Only a few dozen in stock! Jackets will have little finish remaining and may have a few minor ‘dings’, but much better than you see on most rifles. Rear sight base is present as well as front sight post without sight blade. Only marked with original German markings from the factory. 28.75” long. No Turkish or import markings. First time we’ve had these in 30 years!

There are minor dents on the front and middle area. There is no bluing on the metal and your picture showed a nicely blued jacket. The worst thing is the badly pitted sides of the jacket. Your picture does not show any pitting. Your description does not say there is pitting. There is pitting on both sides and can be seen when the jacket is in the wooden stock.
